:: do not use internet explorer (by yahoo!tech) ::

Yahoo!Tech news announced that users should switch away from IE because there's a major flaw that compromise your passwords and security.

In my opinion, ITS ABOUT TIME MICROSOFT ADMITS IT!

Anyways, here's the official article:
Source from Yahoo!Tech = http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/111811

Major flaw revealed in Internet Explorer; users urged to switch
Tue Dec 16, 2008 11:49AM EST

The major press outlets are abuzz this morning with news of a major new security flaw that affects all versions of Internet Explorer from IE5 to the latest beta of IE8. The attack has serious and far-reaching ramifications -- and they're not just theoretical attacks. In fact, the flaw is already in wide use as a tool to steal online game passwords, with some 10,000 websites infected with the code needed to take advantage of the hole in IE.

Virtually all security experts (as well as myself) are counseling users to switch to any other web browser -- none of the others are affected, including Firefox, Chrome, and Opera -- at least for the time being, though Microsoft has stubbornly said it "cannot recommend people switch due to this one flaw." Microsoft adds that it is working on a fix but has offered no ETA on when that might happen. Meanwhile it offers some suggestions for a temporary patch, including setting your Internet security zone settings to "high" and offering some complicated workarounds. (Some reports state, however, that the fixes do not actually work.)

Expedient patching or switching are essential. Security pros fear that the attack will soon spread beyond the theft of gaming passwords and into more criminal arenas, as the malicious code can be placed on any website and can be adapted to steal any password stored or entered using the browser. It's now down to the issue of time: Will Microsoft repair the problem and distribute a patch quickly enough to head off the tsunami of fraud that's about to hit or will it come too late to do any good?

Meanwhile, I'll reiterate my recommendation: Switch from Internet Explorer as soon as you can. You can always switch back once the threat is eliminated.

You can choose the following alternative browsers:
1. Mozilla Firefox
2. Opera
3. Google Chrome
4. Apple Safari

Its been years since I ever use IE. I usually use Mozilla Firefox or Opera. They're much better and safer. ^_^ Which browsers are you using?

:: december moolah talks ::

PC Fair is tomorrow and I don't have the mollah to spend! *wails*

Huhu.. I was planning to get a Nikon Coolpix Camera for PC Fair tomorrow, but i kinda spent (past tense noted) my money on Christmas presents and Christmas preparation. T_T But I wanna see my loved ones happy.. Huhu... Oh well, looks like I won't be getting a Nikon Coolpix for Christmas this year. Maybe i could get it on my birthday next year.. *goes off to calculate budget*

On the other hand, I've been stalking Lowyat.Net (Stuff for the Ladies) forums for the past couple of days (I have Fara and M@rs as my witnesses :P). Spending online is going to break my bank account soon.. its so convenient.. =_= *guilty* But somehow its so much fun to go around surfing the forums and look for the best deals. Its probably the joy-of-hunt-ladies shopping instinct for me. *LOL*

Talking about shopping, 1Borneo has some awesome Christmas decorations in the center atrium and all over the shopping mall. I totally love the 3-storey-high Christmas Tree + huge baubles and deco. The Santa's House / Castle building on the stage is so cool. I can't wait to go mall hopping and enjoy the Christmas decorations. XDD

Well, that's all for my end of Nov - early Dec money talks. Here's a question for your readers~

Have you started your Christmas Shopping yet?

:: european english ::

I was cleaning out some junk mail out of my yahoo email just now when i stumbled into this article. hehe~ this was a forwarded joke-email that I received from a friend last year. ^_^ enjoy reading.

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as
replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

:: halloween night at jade ::

On October 31st, 2008 (last, last, last Friday), there was a Halloween Night party at Jade, Api-Api. Yes! Blame me for procrastinating! =P

Anyways, this was my first time celebrating Halloween in a festive mood. Usually, I don't get that excited at Halloween because its All Souls Day and the next day would be All Saints Day. Both days will remind me of waking up very early in the morning and go to the graveyard to to do some cleaning up. And, somehow the graveyard cleaning task will always be on a really hot + sunny morning. *sweats*

So this year was totally different, because I joined in the fun to try wear a costume for a Halloween Party. I dressed up as a Dr. Serenadez (though I wanted to be the lab assistant at first) that night. =_= I totally had no idea what to wear at all until the last minute. *guilty of being a last minute person* I wanted to support Audrey and come for her party. ^^

All in all, it was a really fun night! Went to Jade, then to Shenanigan's and then back to Jade again in one night. Went home around 2:30 am ++, and i fell asleep at around 3am. =_= i was such a grumpputs gollum (with a scowl on my face) when I was woken up that morning to go to the graveyard. -_-*

Here are some photos (not mine!) that i nicked off from Dasaru. There were a lot of pictures taken on that night. Mostly was posted in Facebook. ^^;;

:: birthday bbq at Kanariya's ::

Last Saturday, there was a BBQ birthday party @ Amber's (Kana) house and a lot of CSPians went to that party. ^_^ Otanjoubi Omedeto Gonzamaisu, Kanariya.

BBQ Group Pic
- Kana's Birthday Party: Group Pic -

Saturday was an eventful day indeed. In the morning, I followed Roslyn (& family) to Wan Soon at Inanam for brunch. Its been a while since I last "sau nyuk kai fan" ate there. I usually go there for breakfast/lunch with Marvick. ^^

After brunch, we went to Karamunsing. I thought that the notebook fair would be at the atrium area. It was actually at TecAsia shoplot only. *disappointed* After a bit of walking around, I went on my way and explored the whole of Karamunsing. Roslyn (& family) went exploring on their own ways. There were a few things that I was looking for in Karamunsing. Found some cool weapons at the martial arts shop on the 3rd floor. They sell bokkens, but have to pre-order first. XDD

Then after exploring Karamusing, I walked to KAC to look for Rina. I thought she might be at Mindslaver, but she wasn't around. *sighs* So, i just went exploring the whole of KAC and rested for a while. I met Joanne's mum at the Japan shop in KAC. We chatted about pets and where to buy dog collars. After that, I walked to CP, did some exploring, walked to Warisan Square, did some more exploring, and finally got tired. =_=

Oh! I followed Wesley's directions and finally found the shop that sells replicas of katanas in CP. It was cool! But all of them was over RM 100 ++. >_< _=" After" style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(153, 255, 153);">Jonjon's First Holy Communion mass. After the dinner, I went to Kana's house. There were already a lot of people at her house (mostly was CSPians). ^_^ Hehe! Kana's room was so GG!!! XD I totally love-love-L-O-V-E her "collections." *fangirl squeals* Had a really great time at the birthday BBQ. ^^ Went home quite late and straight away fell into a deep sleep after I lie down on the bed. *hugs pillows*

My feet ached a lot that night. But it was worth it! ^_^

:: tagged again ::

Okies! I got tagged again. Actually kan, i saw this tag at Fara's blog ody. But didn't have time to blog yesterday. Now Marissa tagged me also. =_= so, i guess i'll with Marissa as the one who tagged me the latest. ^^;;

The last person to tag you is?

If he/she becomes your lover, you will…
*evil smirks* hm, i'll start with giving her a bouquet of dark red roses..

If he/she becomes your enemy, you will...
I'll give her a bouquet of white roses... XD

If he/she becomes your lover , he/she has to improve on..
Hmm... *thinks hard* um.. i think i'm the one who needs to improve on something.. =P

If he/she becomes your enemy , the reason is...
I accidentally dropped all her figurines on her computer monitor? *yikes! knocks on wood*

How do you think the people around you will feel about you?
Hm, somehow most of the comments i get is "Serena! Your real-self does not fit your name and appearance!" =_=""

The character for you for yourself is?
Spontaneous, clumsy, gets embarrassed easliy

The most ideal person you want to be is?
A courageous blade-wielding woman with quick wit and quick reflexes! *yay!*

For the person who cares and likes you, say something about them.
*glompshugskisses*

Ten people to tag;
Me thinks that's too many people to tag.. So i'll follow Fara and Marissa's style..

1. Joanne
2. Nadia
3. Sara
4. Talissa
5. Rina

Who is no.2 having relationship with?
Azman! ^^

Is no.3 a female or a male?
Female

If no.7 and no.10 be together would it be a good thing?
*ignores*

How about no.5 and 8?
Hm, number 8 should be a hot babe who likes femme slash! XD

What is number 1 studying ?
She's studying Media i think... *looks at Jo-N*

When was the last time you have chat with them?
I managed to chat with all if them this month, except Talissa

Is number 4 a single?
Nope, she's taken.

Talk something about no.2.
She's the one woman who will beat Queen Elizabeth's woman-in-power legacy and transcends all humanity with the gift of elven culture. *fantasy over* Haha! She is a wonderful friend who loves to read about elves and fiction. She very, very cute and a faithful friend. *hugs* Oh! She's getting engaged next month!!

:: antique bakery ::

Antique Bakery
(西洋骨董洋菓子店 ~アンティーク~ / Seiyō Kottō Yōgashiten)

Antique Bakery

Plot Summary:
Antique Bakery, is a small bakery that is being run by four handsome men. Tachibana, is the owner of Antique Bakery. Chikage, the garcon, was send by Tachibana's family to watch over his childhood friend. Ono is the "demonically charming" gay master pastry chef. And Kanda, a former boxer, becomes Ono's apprentice.

I've enjoyed watching this anime. Its the type of anime that has slices of life into it. At first i was drawn to this anime because its classified under yaoi and shounen-ai.. But after watching this anime till the end, the main attraction to me was the music and the way the characters life stories interwine with each other. The characters have very different backgrounds, and different priorities in their life, but the fact that they work together in the same cake shop, helps them to understand each other and accept one another. ^_^

I totally fell in love with the music. Both the opening and ending theme of this anime are from the same song, but each of them have very different styles/music arrangements. The opening theme, Life Goes On (side K~) , has a funky modern feel to it and a fast tempo. This is my favorite version of the song. The ending theme, Life Goes On (side D~), has an acoustic feel and slow tempo. It makes me want to draw a painting of a cake and a glass of latte by the patio. If you want to listen to the song, you can download it here (via Megaupload).

:: halloween is just around the corner ::

Halloween is just around the corner. What is there to expect in KK on Halloween?

Well, there won't be kids dressing up in ghoulish costumes going "Trick of Treat" knocking on our front door. That's for sure.. I've always wanted to try that, but too bad our Asian lifestyle does not do fun-not-so-scary nights. We have truly scary-nights-and-spirits instead.. =_=

Here's some good news for KK-ians.. There's going to be a Halloween Night Party at Jade (Api-Api Centre) this coming Friday, Oct 31, 2008. It'll be a night of minglings and pretty ladies in gothic-ish dresses. And i'm hoping there'll be some good looking gothic-ish dudes too. *winks* Come and join in the fun~

Jade Halloween

Don't forget... be DRESSED to KILL!
the MOST KILLER-HORRENDOUS-YUMMYLICIOUS OUTFIT gets a winning prize from JADE! What is the PRIZE? Be there on October 31st and find out yourself...

:: hookworms ::

Okaaaaayyyyy~ =_= *rasa geli + digusted*

Last night, the itchiness on my feet was so unbearable (to the point i wanted to chop off my legs) that i begged my mum to send me to see Dr. Bachi as soon as possible.

i just came back from Klinik Dr. Bachi about 5 mins ago. After i gave a chronology of events to what has been happening to my feet to Dr. Bachi, he took out a book and turn the pages and said, "ah! let me show you what you're experiencing right now!" he showed me the page and i went, "OMG! EWWWW!!!"

It was a page with very graphic pictures about cutaneous larva migrans. T_T *dies* generally known as Sandworms (i.e. Hookworms)!!! *drops dead*

The picture in the book that he showed was titled "after a beach holiday" T_T So Dr. Bachi prescribed me Zentel (deworming), paracetamol (painkiller) and chlorpheniramine (anti-itch).

Immediately after i took the Zentel (2 pills), my feet became so itchy that i wanted to cry. After 15 mins or so.. the itch died down and now i'm feeling a lot of pain. I can't walk properly because its too painful to walk. But the doctor reassured me that if I take another set of Zentel tomorrow and i'll be okay soon. *crosses fingers*

i hate you worms!!! berani kamurang pigi lagi lukis-lukis red welts on my feet!! *eats more worm-killing medicine* hahahahah! I want to FEEL you all die!!!! DIE!! DIE!! Die and shrivel like the worms you are!!! *gone crazy*

:: h-factor ::

WOOHOO! H-Factor was overall great yesterday. I had a good time at the workshop.

H-Factor
Image Courtesy of H-Factor!

The H-Factor workshop in KK was at Pan Pacific, Sutera Harbour, and was scheduled to start at 10am and end at 6pm. But the workshop started around 1045am and finished at 7pm. I went to the workshop with Marissa and met up with Fara and Julian at the venue. Got our hands stamped and lounge around until 1045am. Massy, Chucky, Edgar, and Al. was at the workshop too.

We went into the workshop room and was listening to Hannah Tan's song. And when the event started, we all entertained with Fellest awesome dancing performance. Then the emcee announced the arrival of all the speakers. ☆_☆ *seeing stars*

H-Factor Speakers
Workshop Speakers (From Left to Right)
Gals: Hannah Tan, Serena C
Guys: Hans Isaac, David Lai, Harith Iskander,
Reymee Hussein,
Pietro Felix, Fellest Yan, Joey Khor

:: Being a Radio DJ ::
We first listened to Serena C and Pietro Felix talk about how a life of a Radio DJ was like. In a nutshell, its a hell lot of hard work, less-or-no sleep and working around the clock. Being a radio dj is about being a mediator between celebrities and the general public/fanbase. XDD! Oh! and whatever people say, you must get your degree! I heard some boys sighed at the back of the room.. +_+

Before the workshop, I just like to listen to Serena C and the Breakfast Show on Mix FM. When i saw her in real life, i was really happily surprised at how cute she is and i liked her even more.. =_= oh noez~ I'm now a fan of someone with the same name as me.. *mayoi no kimochi*

During this time, we all sang the "Happy Birthday" song for Hannah Tan. Her birthday was yesterday and the crew celebrated her birthday on a yacht!! @_@ i just love Hannah Tan's black corset top. XDD

:: Being a Singer ::
Reymee Hussein was the speaker for this segment. Hahaha! I couldn't help but be incredibly amused with his hesitant (what's up with KK's enthusiasm and these gals screaming?) looks. XD He's kinda cute.. and I like his boyish features. I'm glad to hear that he thinks Sabahan are talented singers. *i support Mia Palencia and Nikki Palikat* XDD!

Being a singer generally means that you got to have the talent to sing. You also have to be tolerant to criticism. If anyone wants to start a singing career, don't listen to what family and friends say.. coz usually family and friends won't be cruelly honest with you. =_=

:: Being in Multimedia ::
I was anticipating Joey Khor's stories the most. Coz i'm in the same field but there's still so much more i need to learn. His presentation was really awesome. I totally agree that creative work in the working industry is sometimes dampened because of limitations by money and the client. Oh! But the really fun part was, we get to watch the unreleased trailer of "Prince of Persia!!" Kyaaa!! It was so totally cool!! XDD

Oh! Oh! Joey had these awesome tattoos on his arms.. I bet there's even more tattoos on his chest and body. I want to see... XD He had this "Veni Vidi Vici" inscription on his left arm. *drools* I think it generally means "I came, I saw, I conquer."

After Joey's presentation.. It was lunch break at the Hibiscus Restaurant.

:: Being an Actor/Actress ::
The minute Hannah announced Hans Isaac as the speaker, all the gals was screaming at the top of their lungs! *runs into a corner and covers ears* Hans' talk was really interesting. He urges the teenagers to follow their dreams and do what their hearts really want to do. Don't let other people, even friends and parents, make you give up your dreams. Live life to the fullest!

By the end of his talk, he asked the audience "I need a volunteer for my improv! Who is brave in this room?" I was hesitating to volunteer and another gal volunteered. T_T The improv was quite amusing. The situation was a date between the gal and Hans. Then suddenly Harith came in and had this angry look (acting). He asked what was going on, and Hans went to a corner. The gal tried to explain and called Harith, daddy~ XD Harith said to wait and he'll talk to Hans. Suddenly both Hans and Harith went into gay-mode-how-dare-you-on-me! hahahahaha!

:: Being a Comedian ::
After Hans, Harith Iskander took over the stage. He told us that he was working at an advertising company before he became a comedian. He said that he really enjoyed being a comedian. It was hard at first and after all the hard work and perseverance, he finally got to where he is now.

His jokes and comedic antics was so funny. I was practically crying from laughing so much. My cheeks and tummy hurts but i just couldn't stop. hahahahh! Because of the workshop, i'm going to purchase some tickets to Harith's comedy show this coming Nov 3rd. XDD! Harith! you rock!

:: Being a TV Host ::
Now its Hannah Tan's turn to give a talk. The whole room was cheering so much for Hannah Tan. XD She gave us some insights on how a life of a TV Host or a celebrity can be. Its not all glam and glitter. She showed us how much hard work it takes to be a celebrity and showed us her bed bugs marks on her arms. After the talk, I have so much respect for her. She's really a great woman and she deserves to be blessed. ^_^

For her talk, she invited volunteers from group A and B on stage. I volunteered!! Because i asked her for her autograph before this and she told me that I have to volunteer myself. I wanted to get her autograph for Jim's sake. He badly wanted me to get Hannah's autograph.

well, what we did was to have 3 people from each them to host an impromptu TV show. Group A had to do a "Chicken Wings" show and words given to him by the team's director and writer. Group B (my group) had to do a "Pisang Goreng" show. I was the writer, Kai was the director and Jasmine was the TV Host. HOWEVER, Group A was the winner of the day. In return for volunteering, all of us volunteers got Hannah Tan's autograph. YES! XD

:: Being a Dancer ::
Fellest Yan was really cool with his dance moves and performance. Fyi, Fellest is a Sabahan. His talk was very organized. He showed us some really cool dance moves and cleared up some mistunderstandings about "Break Dancing" The St. Francis Convent gals was going ooh-ahh at Fellest.. "he's so hot! he so cool!" and basically drooling at his body. =_=

anyways, besides the fangirl moes, i enjoyed the learning different dance moves and the history behind them. My favorite moves was the L.A. Hip Hop and Locking. ^_^ Fellest will be having a Hip Hop dance class in KK. The time is from 8pm until 10pm. The venue is at Tmn Che Mei, Lido, Penampang. The registration price is RM 100. Anyone interested?

:: Being a Mentalist/Perfomer ::
David Lai was suppose to be the speaker for this segment but unfortunately, he couldn't make it to the workshop.. Awwww~

After the workshop, it was the photo taking session! Goshop team was the last ones because after the photos, we had a short interview with Hannah Tan!

I had a great time at the workshop. Too bad I didn't bring any camera.. Also, we couldn't take pictures during the workshop. T_T sudah jatuh, ditimpa tangga lagi.. why?? i thought we could take pictures? *sedey* =_= oh well *shrugs* i'll just have to wait for the pictures to be uploaded on the H-Factor website. ^_^ There are also some photos on Fara's post on H-Factor. You guys can check it out. Lastly, here's a shoutout!

.::*::☆::*::.::*::☆::*::.::*::☆::*::.::*::☆::*::.::*::☆::*::.::*::☆::*::.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ☆HANNAH TAN☆!!!
Please come back to Kota Kinabalu again! XDDD

And I need to get through to something new where I'm not alone

Where everybody knows you,
everybody loves you,
everybody says this is your home

Hello, hello, hello, hello
You know it's good to see you here again
To be back with my friends
Where the work's not hard
And the century is closing down
I'm not sure what we've got
We really don't need a lot
Hello, hello

Trying to shake all responsibility
Repeating that it don't mean much to me
Staying out of my head all day
Don't want to go back
Don't want to have to face it all
All those disappointments that I've made
Hello

Where everybody knows you
Everybody loves you,
everybody says this is your home

Hello, hello, hello, hello
You know it's good to see you here again
To be back with my friends

Don't let me go, hello, hello, hello
You know I wanna stay here with my friends
Stay here 'til the end, don't let me go
Don't let me go, hello, hello
Don't let me go
The century is closing down ...

I like to listen to this song. It has a "feeling" that makes me feel that i'm back in my hometown. The guitar arrangement resembles the Kadazan way of music arrangement. oh maybe that's what i would like to believe.. ^_^

This song is currently in my most played playlist. The songs by the group Asian Kung Fu Generation is very nice to listen to.. but quite difficult to dance to.. So usually i'll listen to this song in the car or while surfing through the web. ^_^

:: allergies rant ::

Right now I'm effin' irritated with my itchy feet!!

I'm so tempted to use a needle or a knife to puncture each and one of the welts on my feet to kill the itch. The allergic reaction i got from the sand while playing frisbee are acting up again and both of my legs are welting and covered in red rashes. Bengkak & gatal la sesangat. Girigitan sudah sya ni! ARGHSSS@&#$!!!!

well, i already applied some calamine lotion and took my antihistamine pill. The cream that the Doc gave me was not working, so i washed the cream off with cold water and applied the calamine lotion. IT WORKS BETTER than the cream.

:: itchy random-ness ::

Okay~ Like i mentioned in the previous post, I have another story to tell. It started after the Frisbee game and lasted throughout the whole weekend.

Warning! This is a very long entry! To skip the story, just scroll down to the bottom of this post.

Well, after the Frisbee game, i followed Marissa home to bathe and rush to 1Borneo after. After i took a bath, i felt like i had a bad itch at the inner sides of both my feet. I was curious and checked my feet properly.. There were lots of little red pimple-like dots all over my inner side of both my left and right foot. I got worried and asked Marissa to take a look.. she said maybe i got bitten by something in the sand during the Frisbee game. So, i just applied some minyak kapak and ignored the itch.

During the movie of "Soul's Code" in 1Borneo, i had to sit cross-legged in my seat in order to continue watching the movie and ignore the itch. After the movie, me, Marissa, Fara and Julian went to BTC Lintas to have some drinks. During this time, the itching was really bad and the red-ness seems to have spread around my foot. T_T but i was too tired to care that much and went straight to bed when i reached home.

Okay.. the next day (which is Saturday), I woke up just before noon and did my morning stuffs. Around noon time, i noticed that my foot seems to look darker. I took a closer look and saw some blue bruise-like tinge all around the red pimple-like dots on my foot. The red dots seems to have spread and is now appearing on the outer sides of both my feet. "Okay! I don't think this is normal!" I called up Roslyn and asked her to send me to the clinic. She could only pick me up around 3pm. so I had to wait at home.

By the time i went to Polyclinic Permai (Lintas), it was already 330pm. The doctor (Dr. F) had a look at my foot and had a puzzled look. He asked me what i did or where i went and stuff. He concluded that it might be a bite from something in the sand and I have hypersensitivity to the venom/bite. So he prescribed me some medicine and gave me two options.

Posibility 1:
It might be a severe allergy reaction to the bite, in which antihistamine medicine can help lessen the itch and inflamation.

Posibility 2:
It might be a kind of worm that is causing the inflamation and will probably travel up to my legs and all the way to my organs if i ignore it. If it is a worm, my other friends should seek medical attention if they start having itch too.

@_@ gah! the possibities of a worst case scenario. So i asked the doc what are my options.

Option 1:
Take the antihistamine tablets and wait for the medicine to work. It'll take about 2-3 hours to see any visible results. and by this time, posibility 2 might have cause a lot of inflamation in my legs. And i'd have to rush to the hospital to get the IV drip into my bloodstream.

Option 2:
Take an antihistamine injection to see immediate results.

So, i was thinking, "I EFFIN' HATE SHOTS!!" and decided to take option 1. But later after the consultation, i told Roslyn about the posibilities and options and she told me to take the injection instead. It'll save the trouble of waiting. So i went back in to take the injection. I got the shot immediately i felt woozy. I wobbled out of the doctor's room and slumped on the waiting chairs.

The nurse called my name, but i told Roslyn to go instead. After a minute or two, i was watching my Roslyn walking back to me with a worried face. She asked me if i was alright and called the nurse, "Kenapa bibir dia pucat ni?" Her voice sounded far and i watched my sister grab my arms while the nurse from behind the counter rushed to me. My vision slowly turned white and everything became silent. I felt like i was floating but i can't seem to think.. Then i slowly hear murmurs of people talking.. then my vision turned from total white to color again very slowly.

I saw the lights on the ceiling and thought, "hm.. this is not home... where am i?" then Roslyn came to my side saying "Serena! Serena! can you see me?" I was blur and wondering what's going on? Why are there nurses walking around? Then the doctor came to me with a stetoscope. He asked me "Can you breathe? Is it difficult?" i tried to answer but i couldn't so i just nodded my head. he continued checking my chest. He told Roslyn, "She fine. She'll up again soon. In the meantime, let her rest" Then i just realised! I collapsed?! OMG! I pengsan!

=_= with that thought rushing to my head, i struggled to move my limbs. during that time, Roslyn and Dr. F was having a chat in the room. By the time i could say something, i told Roslyn that i felt like vomitting. But i didn't vomit. huhu.. then i slowly struggled to move my limbs again.. Then i look at the doctor and said "You killed the histamines in my brain!" He and Roslyn just laughed. "Looks like your sister is fine." he replied. *sweatdrop*

anyways, it took quite a while for me to recover. When i could sit up, i noticed i was lying on the bed in the surgery room (with all the scaples and forceps). yikes! i tried to quickly stand up and walk out of the clinic. *nervous smiles* i said my thanks to the nurses and doctor and left the clinic with Roslyn. Had some burger and fries at Burger King at Damai before going home.

huhu.. this is a very long entry. well.. all in all.. this is the first time i have ever collapsed (pengsan) in my whole life. And i felt like i'd want to jot down the details in case I forget. XD hehe! Take care of yourselves, minna-san..

Huhu~ that's the fastest i can type on my keyboard. T_T its so sad that i type that s-l-o-w.. *sighs* anyways, peeps try it out.. its fun finding out how much you can type in one minute. ^_^

Okay.. here's some what's-in-my-life random-ness. Last Friday, I went to play some "Ultimate Frisbee" at the Tj. Aru Beach after work. I went there with Marissa. Edgar asked Fara to bring me along.. hehe.. I was really excited and anxious at first when i went there.. I was worried that I'll really suck at the game.. so! dengan muka tubal yyang sememangnya tubal sudah! i went to join the gang and played frisbee. after a couple of games, turns out that most of the players were new to the game too.

It was really great fun and the rules of the game were easier to understand once you run around after a flying frisbee, and guarding people shouting "1! 2! 3! 4.." and go running after the frisbee again. We were all running around barefoot in the sand and changed players once one of us wants out.

The people who were there at the beach were Marissa, Fara, Rina, Edgar, DiasFox, IrTea, Cubex, Rainer, Beverly, Angela and a lot more others. I think roughly there were originally about 20 people in the beginning of the game.

After the game, Marissa and me left the beach around 730pm and went home to bathe. Got to 1Borneo (after battling the traffic jam) around 850pm and rushed to buy movie tickets to watch "Soul's Code." had sushi for dinner at Sushi King and listened to the fireworks display go boom-boom-bang above our heads..

In my opinion, I didn't enjoy watching the movie. I thought that a horror movie from Thailand would make me scared for a week or so.. but it turns out i had my expectations to high. huhu.. gakari desu..

After the movie, when to have some drinks at BTC Lintas. Went home around midnight-ish and slept.. I have another story to tell, but that will be on the next post.. ^_^;;

:: swimming in october ::

Scene at the Jogging Track in Likas Complex
- Scene at the Jogging Track in Likas Sports Complex -

I went swimming today!!! i missed swimming so much.. i'm always too busy la, "aunty-visit" la, got other plans la.. that i haven't gone swimming since last year. ^^;; but today, i finally went swimming (although alone) and had fun! XD *yatta*

i walked alone from my house to the sports complex under the hot morning sun.. had to dodge a couple of barking territorial-ish dogs. x_x Borneo International Marathon really went all out to decorate the sports complex. ^_^ by now, the participators/athletes should have finish stocking up their carbs with pizza and pasta. *jealous* to everyone who is going to do the marathon tomorrow, ganbatte ne! and have fun!

oh! i met my friend Vachel in the public swimming pool. he was teaching swimming classes to some kids at the pool. so i did some warming up at the public pool, and later moved to the competition pool b'coz the sun was too hot.. *_*

while swimming around and lazying about in the competition pool, i was watching this loud guy trying to teach a girl (slim, short hair, full body swimming suit, probably Muslim?) how to swim in Malay (rileks, rileks, ah.. gitu bah). i was at the sides fixing my goggles when i notice the guy left the girl alone to go to the other side of the pool..

then i watched the girl trying to swimming on her own.. i watched her sink into the pool and didn't come up.. i got curious and dive my head into the water to see what she was doing.. she was flaying about her hands and legs in the water in a panicky way. "SHE'S DROWNING!" that was the first thing that came to my head.. i quickly swam to her and pull her up out of the water to the side of the pool. she was coughing like mad.. "are you ok?" i asked her.. "I'm ok.. *coughs* Thank you!" she said.. then i nodded and left her..

i continued fixing my goggles a few meters away from her.. =_= after a while, i heard her loudly scolding the guy for leaving her alone. (budu oh ko tadi! kenapa ko kasi tinggal sya? i almost drowned! nasib baik ada orang kasi selamat sya tadi) *sweatdrop*

i continued swimming and did a couple of laps until 11:30am.. Vachel came a bit later and we hang out for a while for lunch until 1:30pm.. i went home and been facebooking since.. *lol* damn, my whole body, especially my right arm is aching in pain.. T_T

:: the poverty of Sabahans ::

I received an email from my friend Philicica, and i feel the need to share this story in my blog.. ^_^ this is a really important and heartbreaking but true story.. i myself have seen with my own two eyes, the conditions of poverty here while growing up in Sabah..

This letter/story was a response to a MalaysiaKini Article, titled "Kota Marudu needs more than wireless Internet" in Sept 5th, 2008.

A story by a West Malaysian doctor, posted in Kota Marudu, Sabah.

I read Dr Hams letter and cannot help but agree with many of his observations. I worked in Sabah for over seven years as a house officer and medical officer. After my housemanship, I was sent to Ranau to serve in the district hospital. What Dr Hams described in Kota Marudu is not something isolated to that district alone in Sabah. It is an often repeated story in the whole of Sabah.

My first introduction to the poverty in Sabah came during my first months there, when a sweet 70- year-old lady from Kota Marudu was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with deep jaundice. She lived alone in a small village off Kota Marudu and noticed the jaundice about a month before.

She had no money for the taxi fare and so waited a month to sell off her chickens to have enough money to pay RM50 for the transport to Kota Marudu Hospital. She had to walk two miles to get to the road to get to the taxi.

Having been born, bred and educated in Peninsular Malaysia, I was shocked. When she arrived, she was septic and had a gallstone lodged in her common bile duct. The stone was duly removed but she was found to have a heart problem that required a pacemaker. We arranged for her to get a permanent pacemaker but she refused.

When I pressed her for her reason, she told me that she couldn't afford to buy batteries for the pacemaker, having sold off her chickens. Once I explained to her that the batteries would last for years and we would provide them, she agreed to the pacemaker.

Ranau town itself has roads and is on the main highway between Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu. It developed primarily as a result of the Mamut Copper Mines in the district. However, highway in this context means a two lane road with frequent landslides and potholes, with a two-hour drive to Kota Kinabalu.

Outside Ranau, transportation becomes a problem as tarred roads disappear to become gravel or crudely marked logging trails. Anyone who has worked in Sabah would have the same stories to tell, of extreme poverty and poor transportation.

During my 2 years in Ranau, I've heard and seen it all, patients with cerebral malaria, a condition unheard of in Peninsular Malaysia, coming in after 48 hours to the hospital from places like Kaingaran and Karagasan, with relatives having to push the 'pirate taxi' through the mud, spending RM50 on fare during the monsoon season, the equivalent of 2 months income, this too when petrol was only around RM1.20 a litre in Ranau.

Patients having to delay treatment for life threatening conditions because a bridge washed away along the trail (I won't even call it a road) to Tambunan. Emergency surgery such as caesarian sections, appendectomies and even ectopic pregnancies had to be performed in our little district hospitals by Medical Officers with little more than 4 months housemanship experience.

Medical emergencies such as myocardial infractions, which in Peninsular Malaysia would be managed in a Coronary Care Unit setting, had to be managed in the district hospital level. I'm grateful however, that my staff in that hospital were the best I've ever had the pleasure of working with and were dedicated enough to want to make a difference in their patients' lives.

But poor transportation does not only affect the access to health care. Having no roads to be able to transport their agricultural produce for sale means that these people are stuck in a never ending cycle of poverty.

At most, some of them get RM20 to RM50 by selling their produce to middlemen to be sold at the monthly tamu or market at prices that are perhaps only 10 percent of the value of the goods. These innocent people are also preyed upon by traveling cloth merchants, mostly foreigners, who offer them 'easy payment schemes' to buy cloth for clothes, and when they cannot pay for the cloth and the interest accumulates, they end up having to marry their daughters to these men, who often have wives back home in Pakistan.

One of the cases I could never forget was of the family who came to Ranau Hospital just as I was leaving, a family who had failed crops, were hungry and unable to get food. The father collected some toad eggs and fed them to the whole family in a desperate attempt to stave off hunger. When they arrived at our little emergency room, one of the children were dead and two passed away within 10 minutes of arrival in our casualty unit due to poisoning.

Education is a problem in parts of Sabah outside major towns like Kota Kinabalu at the moment. Many children would be lucky to be able to get to a school or even afford to get to one. Most of my patients outside Ranau were lucky to even have a primary school education and a vast number of women marry in their teens.

I've had 14 year olds delivering babies in Ranau, most of them have never ever stepped foot in a school. The education level is so poor that many women feed their children condensed milk thinking that it's better than breast milk.

But at the heart of it all, these mothers want the best for their children but are not empowered with the knowledge to help them. Major towns in Sabah have electricity courtesy of the Sabah Electricity Board, but smaller villages have either diesel generators or rely on candles or lamps when night falls.

How can children study in these conditions? Like many doctors in the districts, I had to learn Dusun to communicate better with these patients who could speak little else.

Forty five years after the formation of Malaysia, the promise of a better life for these poor Dusun, Murut and Rungus patients in the districts of Sabah is a pipe dream at best. How can our politicians claim to have brought development to the state and have neglected these poor people, many of whom still wear the cheap t-shirts and caps given free by political parties from many elections ago.

How can I claim to be proud of Putrajaya with it's beautiful bridges and lamp posts and the Petronas twin Towers when our fellow Malaysians in Sabah are so neglected?

The cycle of poverty and illiteracy one sees in the districts in Sabah brings despair to the heart. Eradication of poverty must tackle the real issues of education and transport and not just handouts to poor people.

By all means, declare Sept 16th a public holiday, but remember it in it's real context, where we made a promise to our brethren in Sabah and Sarawak to treat them as equals in Malaysia, and give them the development they've been long denied.

:: jade opening ::

i just came back from Jade's opening at Api Api Centre. There were quite a number of people gathered at the Jade. ^.^ my sis, Audrey, was in charge of Jade and me, my sis Roslyn, my bro Junior, and my sis-in-law Vicky went there to support! XD!

Event: JADE (Pub Cafe) Opening Event
Time Starts: Sunday, Aug 31, 2008 at 6.00 pm
Time Ends: Monday, Sep 1, 2008 at 2.00 am
Location: 3-1-1, Block 3, 1st floor, Api-api Centre, KK.

I met quite a lot people, mostly were Aud's friends, a lot of people i met during the SBG event and some of my high school schoolmates. XD There was the Astro guy, who did the "don't play-play" avoid piracy ad too. =.= also, i met Jefferson and Thiru..

The event went great! with the food on the snooker table and the beers in the buckets, the place was quite lively. After a while, people starting cheering and yam-seng around. Malcolm did a few rounds of karaoke and the music played by band for the night was good. Later around 10-11 (i din't look at my watch! :P) there was a surprise birthday cake for Audrey! Her birthday was on August 19th, so it was a belated birthday cake. Nevertheless, i was glad that Audrey was enjoying her self and had a great time.

will come up with the pictures soon. *yawns* i gotta sleep.. had a some alcohol (baileys + tiger beers) and the sleepiness is kicking in. good night (eh.. good morning) and sweet dreams~

:: chocolate chip muffins ::

Chocolate Chip Muffins
- Chocolate Chip Muffins *yummm* XDD -

Yummmmm~! I just love to eat/savor Chocolate + Chocolate Chip Muffins!! It just so happens that I so-ooo love to bake them too! XDD! I made some muffins the other day.. habis kena kebas by my family members. *sweatdrop* =_= anyways, here's a recipe from the Nigella Feast Book on how to do Chocolate + Chocolate Chip Muffins!! ^_^

Ingredients:
  • 250g plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Half-teaspoon bicarbonate soda
  • 2 tablespoons best quality cocoa
  • 175g caster sugar
  • 150g chocolate chips (plus more for sprinkling later)
  • 250ml milk
  • 90ml vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract

How to Make:
  1. Preheat the oven to 200C and fill a 12-bun muffin tray with paper cases.
  2. Weigh out the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Pour all the liquid ingredients into a measuring jug.
  3. Mix both together – it will be a runny batter - then spoon into waiting muffin cases.
  4. Sprinkle more chocolate chips on top then cook for 20 minutes or until the muffins are risen and springy.
  5. This recipe makes about 12 muffins.

As you can see, it's quite easy to bake them. so far, i've bake 3 types of muffins already. The first muffin batch i made was Blueberry Muffins, then it was the Orange Poppy seeds Muffins, and then upgraded to Chocolate + Chocolate Chip Muffins. Every time i bake a new batch, i tried experimenting here and there. I figured out that margarine makes the cakes taste so much better than using butter or vegetable oil. ^_^

Check out this Nigella Feast video to learn a visual step-by-step baking process of these devilish Chocolate Chip Muffins!
